AAMO Brief History:

The first meeting took place on Aug. 26th of 2006 at Zahfran Restaurant in the city of Orange, CA with the participation of the following brothers and sisters.

Omar Eshaq, Br. Jawid Habib, Sr. Sadia Noorstani, Br. Daoud Momand, Br. Sohail Ayam, Br. Mir Mohammad Zaher Noori Br. Mukhtar Peerzay, Sr. Nooria Sediq, Sr. Homaira Shifa, Br. Harith Tarin, Br. Salim Zamir, Sr. Zulfar Shaker, Br. Mustafa Mahboob

On that meeting the name of Organization “Afghan American Muslim Outreach (AAMO)” was suggested. Br. Masoud took the responsibility of drafting the bylaws and Sr. Zulfar and Br. Masoud to come up with the logo of the organization.

 

Sept.15 2006   First bylaw was drafted & the name of Organization “Afghan American Muslim Outreach (AAMO)” was approved by unanimous votes on & on this meeting the current logo was also adopted. Following officers were elected:

1) Br. Masoud Nassimi (President)

2) Sr. Sajeda Sultani (Vice President)

3) Sr. Madina Latif (Treasurer)

4) Br. Abul Nasir Arghandehwal (Secretary)

AAMO First Board of Directors: Sr. Simin Omar, Sr. Marwa Latif, Sr. Zulfar Zamir, Br. Salim Zamir, Br. Abdul Ghafoor Mahboob, Br. Omar Eshaq.

  1. 11/11/2006 – State of CA, Secretary of State officially recognized AAMO
  2. 11/12/2006-    First AAMO Fundraising at Chinese Cultural Center –  Irvine, CA
  3. 12/26/2006 – Applied for IRS exempt status for AAMO
  4. 01/27/2007 – Salim Zamir launched AAMO first website www.aamo-ca.org
  5. 03/31/2007 – Conference “Milad Nabi” in San Fernando Valley, CA
  6. 06/30/2007 – IRS officially issued EIN number for AAMO and they approved our exempt status as a non-profit organization
  7. 09/08/2007 – Conference “How to prepare ourselves for Ramadan” in Irvine, ca
  8. 02/15/2008 – Conference “Family in Islam” – in Freemont, CA
